“EKKLESIA”
TEEN EMPOWERMENT
SUMMER INTERSHIP PROGRAM
The “Ekklesia” Teen Empowerment Summer
Internship Program is a six (6) week
program geared toward improving the quality of life for teens by providing
a ministry-based
work environment focused on empowering and equipping teens spiritually,
socially, and emotionally with the necessary tools to nourish the mind,
body, and spirit.
“Ekklesia” is a Greek word for “Called
Out Ones”. “Ekklesia” comes from two words:
“kaleo” meaning to call, and “ek” meaning out
from; to call out from; to call or summon;
to call forth; to assemble together; to call out a gathering; gathering;
assembly;
congregation. Through this program, teens will obtain the developmental
skills needed to
“answer the call” of being image bearers in every aspect of
their lives.
The program is targeted toward youths ranging
between the ages of fifteen (15) and
eighteen (18). The program duration period begins on Monday, June 23,
2008 through
Friday, August 1, 2008.
“Ekklesia” Teen Empowerment is housed
and operated from Christ Missionary Baptist
Church, 494 South Parkway East, Memphis, Tennessee, 38106. Program participants
will work approximately 5 hours a day /25 hours per week with one day
devoted to
ministry-based instruction and life skills training to include, but not
limited to:
• Ministry and What It Means
• Teen Mentoring
• Life Skills Training
• Money Management
• Job Readiness Skills Training
• Conflict Management
• Ethics
• Customer Service Skills/Workplace Communication
